23 Weeks

Yesterday we had our regular doctor's appointment.  Everything is right where it should be for measurements and Dr. M. confirmed that the ultrasound figures all looked good too.  He said he doesn't look at the gender so that he doesn't accidentally let it slip if a couple wants to be surprised.  But he did say that if the Tech says it's a girl, then it's a girl!  With today's technology, it'd be hard to not get it right I think.  But I'm still keeping Cade's old clothes just in case.

I've been trying to keep big brother mindful of the fact that his sister is in mommy's belly.  It's funny watching him come in to give me a hug and his head bouncing off my belly.  He still hasn't felt her kick but we talk about her a lot.  It should be soon for the boys to feel her kick.  Some days she feels like she's doing complete somersaults in there.  Enjoy the room while you have it little one!

When I was pregnant with Cade, I craved crispy chicken strips and plain M&M candies.  This time around I'm craving hamburgers from the airport cafe and gummy bears (especially from Trader Joe's).  Ross was in Redding last weekend and went to get me some gummy bears.  Can you believe it?  Trader Joe's was completely out!  So he picked up a variety of other brands to hold me over.  What a good husband. 

The secret is out at the Library and it's so nice not having to try to hide my bump.  People at church are also starting to look at me questioningly but I'm happy telling everyone there.  Thanks to my friend Courtney, I have lots of cute maternity clothes options and it's been fun letting little girl start to pop out.

20 Weeks

I think I might have taken one "bump" photo while I was pregnant with Cade.  So while I don't really like doing it, Cade was feeling camera happy and I let him take my picture on Sunday.

Waiting Patiently

Yesterday we went in for our 20 week anatomical ultrasound.  We had decided to wait to tell Cade this time around.  It was hard not to spill the beans sooner.  We finally told Cade he will be a big brother this June.  He seems excited about it but told us that "June is a very long time to wait."

The baby was squirming a lot during the ultrasound and almost seemed to be moving away from where the technician was pressing down.  For most of the time, the baby was folded up with arms in front of the face and legs crossed.  All ten fingers and toes were accounted for and everything is right on track for measurements.

But I wouldn't say we got any good 'photos'.  I'm afraid we might have a stubborn one on our hands.

We promised Cade we would stop for donuts after the appointment on the way to school.  The boys had glazed buttermilk donuts and that seemed to make up for all the time it took for the measurements and scans.

The most exciting part of all . . . we found out it's a girl!  We can't wait for little sister to get here.
